Recognising individual humans
Several wild animals can tell particular people apart and treat them differently. What "recognise" means varies enormously between them — from a crow tracking a specific face to a bee trained on a photograph.
This is one of the most searched questions in nature, usually in the form "does my garden bird know me?", and it is a good example of a question where the honest answer needs a page rather than a sentence. Wild American crows track a specific human face across years and across the different bodies wearing it. African elephants sort human voices into categories that track real danger. Honey bees can be trained to discriminate photographs of faces, which is a genuine visual achievement and not recognition of a person in any everyday sense. Putting the three side by side is what makes the differences legible.
